CyberStorm Team 2430 is FIRST Robotics Competition(FRC) in Greenwood SC. The CyberStorm team has been apart of FIRST since 2004. We first started as a FLL team, we meant in a room in our coaches basement. After two years the team moved up from FLL to soon join the FIRST Vex Challenge(now called FIRST Tech Challenge). Going through both types of competitions the team had the thought of moving up to FIRST Robotics Competition. FIRST Robotics Competition is the high school level of the robotics competition from FIRST(For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). As a rookie team, we have reached out to the community in various ways including starting GRIP(Greenwood Robotics Interactive Partners) mentoring FLL team, and organizing a FLL scrimmage in the local mall.
Team 2430,CyberStorm, of Greenwood SC, returned from the 2008 Palmetto Regional at Clemson University . The team did wonderful, placing 8th out of 36 teams from 6 different states(South Carolina, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Georgia, Florida). As a rookie team they out ranked teams that have been established for over ten years. The team was awarded Highest Rookie Seed Award and Rookie All-Star Award. Rookie All-Star is the most prestigious award(and one of prestigious in the whole competition) a rookie team can obtain at a competition event. Along with the award was an invitation to the 2008 FIRST Robotics Championships in Atlanta, GA to compete with 340 team from around the world. The event was held at the Georgia Dome From April 17-19.
